-       Rockhampton Ring Road

The Rockhampton Ring Road expected to start 2023

The objective of the Rockhampton Ring Road plan, preserve and construct project (Rockhampton Ring Road project) is to provide a western link of the Bruce Highway, extending from the Capricorn Highway (at Nelson Street) in the south, through to Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road/Bruce Highway intersection in the north. With a total investment of $1.065 billion this project will also include a new crossing of the Fitzroy River.

-       Clark Creek Wind & Solar Project

The Clarke Creek Wind Farm is an 800 MW wind project located in the heart of Central Queensland, approximately 150 km north-west of Rockhampton. This $350 Million Dollar project will become one of the largest wind farms in the southern hemisphere upon completion.

-       Surf Lakes

Located between Rockhampton and Yeppoon the site has been in use since 2018, but being a prototype has served only to successfully prove, test and improve the capability of Surf Lakes’ unique wave making technology. Surf Lakes has signed an agreement with wave pool operations company to rebuild the existing surf lakes Yeppoon research and development site and include significant development so that it may be open to the public. Construction for this is expected to start in 2023 opening to the public in 2024.

-       Rookwood Weir Project

Rookwood Weir is a landmark project that will capture valuable water in the lower Fitzroy River for use across the region.  This $367 million project will have many long term benefits to the local agriculture and industry.

-       Shoalwater Bay Training Facility Upgrade

Located approximately 80 kilometres north of Rockhampton, SWBTA is the Australian Defence Force’s primary training area for the conduct of large-scale, joint-force military training exercises. In a $2.25 Billion project scope includes a new 1,000 troop urban operations training facility, field hospital site and military campsite, along with upgrades and remediation to an airfield, internal roads, creek crossings and beach landing sites.

-       Alliance Aviation Hanger Rockhampton

Alliance Aviation will bring its maintenance program from four overseas businesses to Rockhampton and build a $60 million hangar in Rockhampton.

-       Moah Creek Solar Plant

Located 30km west of Rockhampton, the Moah Creek Renewable Energy Project is part of the larger integrated Central Queensland Power project being jointly developed by RES and Energy Estate. The portfolio of wind, solar and battery storage projects is designed to assist Central Queensland’s transition to renewable energy.  The Moah Creek Renewable Energy Project is estimated to be operational by 2025.  The entire Central Queensland Power project is expected to have a capital expenditure of $6.7 billion, supporting over 4,500 jobs during its construction and a further 550 jobs once it is operational.

-       Keppel Bay Sailing Club

Exciting plans have been revealed which would involve Keppel Bay Sailing Club’s building on the Yeppoon foreshore being demolished to make way for a new three-level complex.   Creating a space that will inject millions into the community as well as attract conferences, sporting regattas, meetings and corporate events, the Keppel Bay Sailing and Convention Centre will create 298 new jobs and inject $39.8M into the regional economy during the construction phase.

-       Stanwell Hydrogen Project

We are working with Japanese companies Iwatani Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Kansai Electric Power Company and Marubeni, and Australian energy infrastructure business APA Group, to undertake a detailed feasibility study into the development of a proposed large-scale electrolyser and liquefaction facility in Central Queensland.  At its peak, the proposed project will provide more than 8,900 new jobs. The project will also deliver $17.2 billion in hydrogen exports and $12.4 billion to Queensland’s Gross State Product over its 30-year life. It will also benefit construction, utilities, heavy manufacturing, and a range of local service industries.

-       Stanage Bay Road Update

The project, which is funded through the Federal Government’s Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative, involves the upgrade and sealing of approximately 39.7km of Stanage Bay Road between the Bruce Highway and the Army Access gate. Increased heavy vehicle traffic usage due to military exercises has placed greater pressure on Stanage Bay Road, the primary northern access route to Shoalwater Bay Training Area and Stanage Bay Township. Stanage Bay Road is approximately 90km long in total, of which only 17.6km has been upgraded to sealed standard. It is estimated at $21.6 million. The sealing of this section of road will reduce ongoing scheduled maintenance on Stanage Bay Rd.

-       Emu Park Reservoir

The project involves the construction of a new 4 ML (megalitre) potable water supply concrete reservoir to the west of Emu Park. Estimated at $2.5 million includes a new potable water supply reservoir is necessary to ensure that the townships of Emu Park, Zilzie and Keppel Sands have sufficient and reliable water supplies into the future.

-       Matthew Flinders Drive

Estimated at $1.6 million this reconstruction project will include the renewal of the road pavement and upgrades to stormwater pipes, pits, kerbs and channels from Edward Street to Percy Ford Street, Cooee Bay.

-       Capricorn Coast Memorial Gardens

The Capricorn Coast Memorial Gardens will provide Livingstone residents with a landscaped parkland setting as a final resting place for their loved ones. The site is located at Taroomball off Tanby Rd, between Yeppoon and Emu Park. Council has received a $1.75 million grant from the State Government's Building our Regions program to aid in the development of the $3.5 million project. Council has prepared a Masterplan for the memorial parklands site and has commenced construction of the initial stage of the project.

-       Wreck Point Walking Trail

Nature lovers will be able to explore more of the Livingstone coastline, with new walking trails under construction at the iconic Wreck Point lookout. The 495-metre-long walking trail will improve pedestrian connectivity between Cooee Bay Beach and Lammermoor Beach via the Wreck Point Lookout.
