EARLIER: Adani will today announce the creation of 500 white-collar jobs — the first of potentially thousands — as it looks to start building its $21 billion Carmichael coal mine in the Galilee Basin in September.
Blue-collar jobs are likely to flow from about April and the State Government is claiming there will be an average of 2000 to 4000 jobs a year over the next 25 years.
Adani will also announce its plan for a regional headquarters in Townsville, as well as service centres in other regional cities including Mackay, Bowen and Rockhampton.
